Magomed Ismailov vs Alexander Emelianenko

Arguably the most anticipated Russian fight of 2020 did not disappoint. The massively undersized Ismailov started quickly by landing several big punches on his opponent. Ismailov was then able to secure an easy takedown and controlled Emelianenko for the remainder of the round. There was some confusion as Ismailov seemingly knocked Emelieanenko out with brutal ground and pound at the end of the round but Alex was saved by the bell. Ismailov’s dominance on the ground continued throughout the second and third rounds until the referee decided that Emelianenko had enough and stopped the fight. This was a great performance from Magomed Ismailov that cements him as one of the most exciting fighters in Russia.

Abubakar Vagaev vs Gadzhimurad Khiramagomedov

For the first couple of minutes, the fight was spent on the feet with Khiramagomedov being the sharper striker, however, Vagaev eventually was able to get his wrestling going. As a result, Khiramagomedov was unable to land a lot of meaningful offence for the rest of the fight as he was outwrestled by the determined Vagaev. This wasn’t the most exciting fight but still a good performance from Abubakar Vagaev who is now 2-0 in the promotion.

Magomed Bibulatov vs Nikita Chistyakov

The UFC veteran wasted little time in getting this fight to the ground. From there, Bibulatov was able to land some nasty punches. Chistyakov stood tough and even went for a leg lock which was defended by Bibulatov. The end came after a hard elbow stunned Chistyakov causing him to cover up, Bibulatov pounced on the opportunity and unloaded a series of punches for the finish. A great win for Bibulatov who will be looking to fight for the bantamweight title soon.

Jimmy Flick vs Greg Fischer

In the main event of the evening, Jimmy Flick wasted no time in securing a quick takedown and securing an arm triangle from a scramble that ensued to force the tap from Greg Fischer. This was a very impressive win for Flick who is now likely on the radar of major organisations.

Arthur Estrazulas vs Dominic Clark

Clark started well and was able to control his opponent against the cage for a large portion of the opening round. However, when Estrazulas secured a takedown of his own he was able to quickly take Clark’s back. From there, Estrazulas spent a bit of time hunting for the rear-naked choke before forcing the tap.

Fabio Cherant vs Erick Murray Jr.

Cherant was able to hurt Murray Jr. early with a big left hand which allowed him to lock in a standing anaconda choke on his stunned opponent. The fight was a wrap after Cherant was able to snap his opponent down and force the tap. This is a big win for the DWCS alumni who bounced back in style from his first loss as a professional.

Jared Gooden vs Trent McCown

Both fighters came out all guns blazing and had success with head strikes and leg kicks. After a competitive couple of minutes on the feet, Gooden was able to secure a takedown. On the ground, Gooden was able to land some solid ground and pound from half guard. In the second round, Gooden hurt McCown in the clinch and methodically picked him apart until the referee stepped in. Great performance for “The Night Train”, I will be surprised if he isn’t signed to a major organisation in the near future.
